Obituary

Sallie Ann Bolyard,

“One Day at a Time Lady”

of Bruceton Mills, WV, peacefully passed away, Thursday, May 7, 2026, at home. The daughter of the late Charles and Agnes Burns Goff, she was born in Etman, WV, on October 1, 1938, and grew up in Rowlesburg, WV.

Sallie graduated from Rowlesburg High School. She was a housewife and a Zayre Department Manager, but her favorite job was being “Momma”.

Sallie was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Dorsey (Buck) Howard Bolyard; parents, Charles and Agnes (Dolly) Goff; and brother, Clyde Goff.

While Sallie journeys on, she leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Sue Ann (Bolyard) Buttermore and James; son, John Howard Bolyard; granddaughter, Tina Marie (Buttermore) Shidel, and her husband, Scott; grandson, Andrew William John

Bolyard; and granddaughter, Amanda Lee Bolyard. Also surviving are her sister, Connie Sue Goff Sigley; her brother and his wife, Max and Rosemary Goff; and many nieces and nephews.

Sallie was known as the “One Day at a Time Lady”. She often used this phrase to encourage others to have faith and let God take care of things. She had this saying printed on many baseball hats in assorted colors that she gave out freely to those who needed to know someone cared about them. She often gave her hats to total strangers. Frugal

as can be, Sallie wrote out her own obituary on an envelope many years ago. This was found by her daughter, Sue, as she was going through her papers. These are her final wishes, in her words:

“There will be no funeral or visitation. Burial will be at Shady Grove Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, but send memorial contributions to the Salvation Army in Kingwood or Morgantown.”

Burial of ashes will be held with family at later date.
