Obituary

Russell "Wege" L. Sliger, 94, of the Valley Point Community passed away at the Kingwood Healthcare Center on Saturday, March 1, 2025. The son of the late Samuel and Freda M. Duffner Sliger, Wege was born in Clifton Mills, WV, on September 23, 1930. Wege worked for Null Ford in Uniontown, PA, and as a security guard for Rockville Mining, the Albright Power Station, Fort Martin Power Station, and Whitetail Mines in Tunnelton. Wege loved his grandkids and great grandkids and met his great great-grandson at 4 weeks of age and asked if he was "talking yet". He loved to spend his mornings at the "Point" gossiping with friends and adored his little dog, Max. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Virginia "Maxine" Sliger; daughters, Ivy Sauers (Ernie) of Rices Landing, PA, and Vivetta "Sue" Dubrinski (Larry) of Monroe, NC; a son, Brindley Sliger (Rena,) of Kingwood, WV; granddaughters, Nicole Peaslee (John) of Valley Point and Brandi Atwell (Jason), Pickens, WV; great-grandchildren: Dora (Jeff) McDuffie of Morgantown, Buddy Peaslee (Jazmin) of Valley Point, Jimmy Peasle of Valley Point, and McKenna Riley of Clarksburg; and great-great-grandchildren, Amelia MaeJean McDuffie and John Wyatt Peaslee. Also surviving are two step-grandsons, Wayland and Dalton Atwell, of Buckhannon and a sister, Alta Fern Sliger, of Kingwood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John, who died in 1971 and an infant brother, Lloyd Edward, who died in 1930. Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. and on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 11:00 A.M. until the 1:00 P.M. service with Pastor Joe Lamm officiating.
