Robert H. Johnson, better known as Big Bob, Driver Bob, or Bob passed peacefully surrounded by his family at Mon General Hospital on February 23rd, 2026, after a short illness. Born on April 9th, 1939, in Morgantown WV of the late Harry and Juanita Hershman Johnson.

Bob dedicated his entire adulthood to serving in many Volunteer fire departments with his longest tenure at Bruceton Brandonville Volunteer Fire Department. He also drove ambulance for Bruceton Community Ambulance until he was 81. He was honored in January, by BBVFD with his 70-year firemen’s pin.

Bob never met a stranger and could be found making his rounds around town visiting. He was never short on words, and he has made many friends that have become family throughout his life. He was always so proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a passion for wood working and built his grandchildren many items. He will be greatly missed by everyone who has had the privilege of meeting him and especially his Haines work family where he worked part-time until the time of his passing.

He is survived by his daughter Melissa (Edward) Kent, Son Robert (Nicky) Johnson, His grandchildren Danielle Jones, Celeste (Ryon) Cahill, Tiffany (Bobby) Johnson, Ian (Amber) Kent, Rachel (Cody) Stiles, Blake Johnson, Isabella Johnson and His great grandchildren Kaileigh Johnson, Dixie and Ava Kent, and Alice Brumfield. His sisters Bonnie Collins and Roberta Gaspar.

He is proceeded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Lynn Johnson who is now celebrating at being reunited with him, and his sister Barbra Myers.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV.

A celebration of life will be arranged later per his wishes.
