Michael Anthony Schmidl, Sr., 72, of Kingwood, WV, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Stonerise Nursing Facility, in Kingwood. The son of the late Martin and Patricia Keller Schmidl, he was born February 5, 1950, in Garrett County, Maryland. Mike had been disabled for many years. Prior to that, he worked as a barber and drove a coal truck. He enjoyed watching westerns on TV and loved his family and was thrilled with his grandson, Mason. He is survived by his wife, Denise Durr Schmidl, with whom he lived in Kingwood for over forty years; a son, Michael Schmidl, Jr., and his wife, Mindy; a daughter and her husband, Martine and Andy Stefan; four grandchildren: Matthew, Morgan, and McKenna Schmidl, and Mason Stefan; two brothers, Joe and Andy Schmidl; seven sisters: Kathy Mullins, Crystal Lantz, Patricia Johnson, Angela Schmidl, Beverly Ammons, Dawn Schmidl and Sandy Jones; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, Friday, April 8, 2022, from 11:00 am until the 2:00 pm service, with Pastor Sonny McNear officiating.
