Melvin was married to Sharon Poland Jackson for 59 years. They had two children, Lori Collins and James Jackson; two granddaughters, Kayla Imler and Taylor (Chris) Rosenberger; five great grandchildren: Jayda and Carson Imler and Bentley, River, and Wesson Rosenberger. Also surviving are four sisters-in-law: Beth Bowmar, Sherry Poland, Marsha Graham, and Melinda Braham.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson-in-law, Donnie Imler; a great granddaughter, Jordyan Collins; and two brothers-in-law, David Poland and Bill Braham.

Melvin was a member of the Centenary Church in Albright, WV, where the visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the 2:00 p.m. funeral service, with Pastors Marvin Frankhouser and Mark Teets officiating.  Burial will follow in the Centenary Cemetery.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl R.
