Lonnie James Matthews, 62, of Bruceton Mills, WV, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, in his home. The son of the late Arliss Bruce and Helen Matthews Dickerson, he was born on September 5, 1960. Lonnie was a retired carpenter who worked primarily in building construction. He is survived by his former spouse, Melinda McMillen; four children: Lonnie Matthews, Jr., Billy Joe Matthews, Shane Thomas Matthews, and Brandon McCall Matthews; and grandchildren: Layla, Landen, and Braley Matthews. Also surviving are three sisters: Connie Shaffer (Roger), Diane Reckart (Joe), and Pam Dickerson and her companion, Scott Hunter. Family and friends may be received at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, on Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 5:00 pm until the 7:00 pm funeral service with Rev. Michael Argabrite officiating. Cremation will follow.
