Larry Summers,

76, of Bruceton Mills, WV, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Samuel Lovel and Lena Shaffer Summers, he was born on December 24, 1949, in Hazelton, WV.

Larry worked 35 years in the coal mines. He enjoyed listening to country music, gardening, spending time outdoors, telling stories, and spending time with his family. He was especially proud of his six grandchildren and was quick to tell others all about them anytime an opportunity presented itself.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Karen Summers; three daughters: Teresa (Dwayne) Quinn of Bruceton Mills, Susan (Shawn) Golden of Uniontown, and Rhonda Rishel (Tom) of Uniontown; six grandchildren: Marla Quinn (Caleb), Brooke Quinn (Zachary), Courtney (Logan) Orr, Mikayla Golden, Tucker Golden, and Erica Rishel; one brother, Gerald Summers; one sister, Betty Dietz; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Wilma Summers, Thelma Barton, and Phyllis Jean Huck; and four brothers: Floyd, Delbert, Donald, and Wayne.

Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, April 16 from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. with Dwayne Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery in Bruceton Mills, WV.

The family of Larry would like to thank the respiratory therapists from Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital and the Amedisys Hospice Care nurses that have taken such great care of him for the last few years. You meant a lot to him, and the family very much appreciates all you have done for him.
