Isaac Reid Evans,

He was born March 8, 1953, to Herbert Quay Evans and Opal Mae Fearer Evans, passed away peacefully at home on August 31, 2026. He was the youngest of 8 children.

Reid graduated from Northern High School in Garrett County, MD in 1971. He then went on to Penn Tech in Pittsburgh and graduated with an associate’s degree in electronics. After graduating, he moved to Virginia and worked for General Electric until his brother, Leon, decided he missed him too much and got him set up with an interview with IBM. Reid worked there for 28 years. When he was laid off from IBM, Reid started working at WVU on the PRT system, from which he retired.

Reid married the love of his life, Kathy Everly, on December 22nd, 1978. Reid and Kathy were married for 47 years. His pride and joy were his three daughters, Kristina Evans Beeghly (Ethan), Rebecca Evans (Will Shaw), and Jessica Evans McClurg (Shaun), and bonus son, Gary Keefer (Cindy).

He was a proud “Poppy” to 4 grandsons, Chase and Levi Beeghly, Eli McClurg, Getty Lee Keefer, and his princess granddaughters, Karina McClurg and Lily Mae Keefer.

In addition to his parents, Reid was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Bobby Everly, sister Betty Kumbar, brothers Leon Evans and Wade Evans, and son-in-law, Shaun McClurg.

Reid was a dedicated 4-H dad, giving up a week of vacation to help the girls with their 4-H lambs at the Buckwheat Festival every year they were in 4-H. He often helped other kids with their show animals, too. Reed was a member of the Salem Church of the Brethren and previously served as co-leader to the Asher Glade Church of the Brethren youth group for several years, coaching them in church league basketball, volleyball and softball. He loved being with the youth and was like a father figure to many. Reid also mentored dozens of young, aspiring farmers who came to the family farm hoping to learn responsible farm stewardship. Reid took great pride in caring for the farm that had been in his family for generations and was happy to pass on what he had learned on to new farmers.

One of Reid’s favorite times of the year was deer season, when he got to spend time playing cards and hunting with his brothers, nephews, great-nephews and great-niece. He also taught his daughters to hunt, passing along his love of sport and the outdoors.

In addition to his immediate family, Reid is survived by his brothers Walter O. Evans, Dale E. Evans (Sue), and big sisters Judy Evans Toney (John), and Brenda Evans Kumbar, along with dozens of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as a few great-great-nieces and nephews. Reid is also survived by special friends, Joe Bennett (Linda) and Jim Griffith (Patty).

Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 2:00 until 4:00 pm and 6:00 until 8:00 pm and Sunday, from 12 noon until 1:00 pm service with Pastor Donnie Savage, officiating. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Amedisys Hospice Group or the Preston County 4-H Foundation.
