Obituary

Herbert G. Reckart, 89, of Bruceton Mills, WV, died Saturday, May 2, 2020, at his home. The son of the late Okey and Cora Haugher Reckart, he was born July 11, 1930, in Kingwood, WV. Herbert was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and served as a Military Police in Germany. He was a member of the Bruceton United Methodist Church and an employee of General Motors, Inland Division in Euclid, OH. After retirement, he moved back to his home place in WV, where he especially enjoyed his family and working in his greenhouse, gardening, and mowing. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy M. Wise Reckart; children: Herbert G. Reckart, Jr. of Bruceton Mills, Betty L. Ingram and Michael Short of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and John H. Reckart and Donna Duncan of Mantua, OH; grandchildren: James D. Ingram of Cuyahoga Falls, Thomas J. Jacobs of Theresa, NY, and Makayla L. Jacobs of Cuyahoga Falls; two brothers and their spouses: Harlan and Onilee Reckart of Brook Park, OH, and Floyd and Nancy Reckart of Rome, OH; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph R. Reckart; eight brothers: Darwin Shafer and Dailey, Donal, James, William, Delbert, Otis and Playford Reckart. The family wishes to thank the Veterans Association and Amedisys Hospice for their help in caring for Herbert. A celebration of life with full military honors will be scheduled at the family residence a later date to be announced. Carl R.
