Elsie Jane Murphy, 84, of Bruceton Mills, WV, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, February 27, 2023. The daughter of the late Howard Wade and Elsie Virginia Catlett Wade, she was born April 10, 1938, in Gladesville, WV. A member of the Salem Church of the Brethren, she was a 1956 graduate of Kingwood High School, a 1959 graduate of West Virginia University, and a teacher at Bruceton High School from where she retired. Elsie Jane is survived by three children and their spouses: Cathy and Paul Hager, Bobby and Tammie Murphy and Neal and Christine Murphy; six grandchildren: Josh Hager and spouse, Kaiti, Ashley Kearcher and spouse, Kalen, Amber Keith and spouse, Joe, Bobby Murphy and spouse, Alex, Zach Murphy and Zoe Murphy; six great grandchildren: Braylen and Sydney Kearcher, Elsie Hager, Ashley Richardson, Laura and Don Smith, Braiden Keith and Riley Murphy; one great- great grandchild, Rosie Smith; her brother, Howard "Butch" Wade; a brother-in-law, Larry Smith; and several nieces and nephews. She was married to Robert F. Murphy, August 23, 1958, who preceded her in death on March 24, 2003. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Smith, and a sister-in-law, Linda Wade. Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, on Friday, March 3, 2023, from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Salem Church of the Brethren in Bruceton Mills (Salem community), WV, from 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. service, with Pastor Donnie Savage officiating.
