Brian Grubb
59, passed peacefully on March 8, 2025, in Kingwood, WV. The son of Julian and JoAnn Grubb of Beckley, WV, he was born on April 7, 1965, in Ronceverte, WV.
After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School, Brian attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston during the 1983-84 school year and then attended West Virginia University where he graduated with a degree in Music in 1989. He played bass guitar in several local bands which included "Subway" and "The Bobby Nicholas Band". Shortly after graduation, he began his career as a carpenter and eventually started building a house for his family in 2002. Due to focusing on raising his children which included cheer and soccer, he and his wife never quite finished their house. "A carpenter's house is never done!"
Brian also had a love for his animals. Dewey, Luke, Shiloh, Josie, Brutus, Bertha Jo, Shadow, Willow, Oakley, Pretty, Stormy, and Kitten were all a big part of his family life over the years, and used his carpentry skills to build them nice houses. "A carpenter's pet house gets done!"
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 26 years, Judy Grubb; a daughter and her fiancé, Lexxi Grubb and Armando Gutierrez, of Fairmont, WV; a son, Brady Grubb, of Bruceton Mills; and one grandson, Kepler Gutierrez, who was his Pride and Joy (PaPa joke).
Brian is finally at peace and will be with all the animals he loved over the years. A special thank you goes to the Carpenters' Union Local 436, carpenters and guys at March-Westin, and all of the staff at Kingwood Healthcare Center for the support provided our family over the years.
Brian's wishes were to be cremated and to have no funeral service. However, his family will have a cookout later to celebrate his life and to honor his memory.
The Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, is providing cremation services.
