Betty Jean Detrick Galloway,
90, of Galloway Road, Bruceton Mills, WV, passed away peacefully with her very loving family by her side on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood, WV. The daughter of the late Demetrious Metz Detrick and Sadie Catherine Sines Detrick, she was born June 22, 1935, in Friendsville, MD.
"Mom" Betty was a devoted wife and mother who valued family above everything in her life. She loved quilting, gardening, and baking, and in her younger years, loved to go fishing and "ginsenging". She experienced many hardships in life but was tough and weathered life's storms as they came. Betty sacrificed daily but did not want to be a burden to others. Her family is blessed with a lifetime of love and memories.
Betty is survived by six children: Pat Rice (Chris), Sandy Hileman (Wayne), Tom Bryner (Barb), Dave Bryner (Betty), LeAnne Bishoff (Vaughn), and Earnie Galloway. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and two sisters, Sherry Ross and Maude Rounds.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two former husbands, Harry Burt Bryner and Earnest Lee Galloway; four brothers; and five sisters.
Cremation, as per Betty's wish, is being provided by the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV.
A memorial service will be at the Salem Church of The Brethren on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 11:00 A.M.
