| Obituary: | Walter Ray (Junie) Lewis, Jr.,
66, of Valley Point, passed away Friday, September 5, 2008, at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, WV.
The son of the late Walter and Laura Bittinger Lewis, he was born September 29, 1941, on Snaggy Mountain, Garrett County, Maryland.
Walter graduated from Terra Alta High School in 1959, and was a drill operator for 43 years for Cornell Drilling of Uniontown, Mary Ruth Corp. of Kingwood, Daugherty Coal of Terra Alta, F&M Coal of Kingwood, L.C. Coal of Reedsville, and Guelich Explosive Company. He also worked for J.F. Allen Company to help build Interstate 68 and retired from Laurita Excavating of Morgantown.
He was a member of Mount Moriah United Methodist Church, Valley Point and enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Evelyn Fay Strawser Lewis; one son and spouse, Tommy and Lisa Lewis, of Kingwood; two daughters and spouses, Tammy Jo and Lonnie Hileman of Bruceton Mills and Tracy and Darren Bolinger of Albright; five grandchildren, Tommy Jr., Matthew and Justin Lewis, Ashley Jo Hileman, and Casey Bolinger; one brother and spouse, Paul H. and June Lewis, of Virginia Beach; three sisters and spouses: Margaret and Herb Groves of Glen Burnie, MD, Katie and Al Kisner of Morgantown, and Judy and Bill Kope of Deep Creek Lake, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Bobby Lewis; a sister, JoAnn Lewis; his father and mother-in-law, Ward and Marie Strawser; and a brother-in-law, Eddie (Ed) Strawser.
Friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, Bruceton-Brandonville, WV, Sunday from 2-4 and 6-9, and Monday, September 8, 2008, from 10 until the 1:00 p.m. time of service, with Revs. Vicki D. Sheppard and Gene David Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Moriah Cemetery, Valley Point.

Walter was my great-uncle--my grandmother's brother (Grandma is "Katie" in the obituary above.) I'm sorry that I never knew his family. I found this during a Google search, but I wanted to add my respects.
